Property Tax Search Tips  

The Hennepin County Property Tax web database is updated
daily (Monday - Friday) at approximately 9:15 p.m. (CST)
   
When searching by PROPERTY ID:
  • Enter all 13 digits of the Property Identification Number (Property ID Number can be found on your property tax statement, Assessor Valuation Notice or other legal documents).
  • The Property Identification Number can be entered with or without dashes, spaces, etc.:
    valid entry:  1011821410003
    valid entry:  10-118-21-41-0003
    valid entry:  10-118-21 41 0003
   
When searching by ADDRESS: (Property Address)
  • Unless you are exactly sure how the Street Name is formatted in the Hennepin County web site database, it is usually most effective to only enter a few characters (at least 3) of the STREET NAME.

    Example: If Street Name is Stevens Avenue South, just enter ste

  • If the STREET NAME has a geographic direction (N, E, S, W, etc.), the direction is usually at the end.

    Example: East 14th Street should be entered as 14th St E or just 14th

  • Other Street Name format examples:

    County Road 101 is formatted as: Co Rd No 101
    Highway 7 is formatted as: State Hwy No 7

Avenue=ave Boulevard=blvd Circle=cir Court=ct
Curve=cur Drive=dr Highway=hwy Lane=la
Parkway=pkwy Place=pl Road=rd Street=st
Terrace=ter Trail=tr
East=e North=n Northeast=n e Northwest=n w

When searching by ADDITION NAME:
  • Enter at least 3 characters of the addition name in the ADDITION NAME box
  • To narrow the search, if the property you are searching for has a Lot Number, enter the Lot Number in the LOT box. Lot Number 001 can be entered as 1 or 001
  • To narrow the search, if the property you are searching for has a Block Number, Enter the Block Number in the Block box. Block Number 001 can be entered as 1 or 001
Important Note : The Hennepin County Property Tax Web Site database uses an abbreviated ADDITION NAME. This may be different than the actual legal Addition Name that you have.
The following are some examples of abbreviated Addition Names:
Goodwin Addition is Goodwin Addn
Auditor's Subdivision No. 067 is Auditor's Subd. No. 067
  • Unless you are exactly sure how the Addition Name is formatted in the Hennepin County web site database, it is usually most effective to only enter a few characters (at least 3) of the ADDITION NAME. If your search using only the first 3 characters of the Addition Name results in a number of properties, try searching again adding a few more characters to Addition Name.
